A major road accident occurred in Gegharkunik Province at around 9 p.m. on October 22. At the 4th kilometer of the Sevan-Tsaghkunk-Zovaber highway, a BMW driven by H. Kh., a 27-year-old resident of Gegharkunik Province, left the roadway, rolled over several times and came to rest overturned in a field.
The driver and his passenger were injured in the crash. Local residents were the first to assist the victims, while ambulance crews from Sevan Medical Center arrived at the scene, provided first aid and then transported them to hospital.
Officers from the Sevan division of the Community Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also worked at the scene under the leadership of division chief Vardan Sahakyan.
Information about the accident was forwarded to the Sevan Investigative Division of the Investigative Department for Gegharkunik Province of the Investigative Committee. An investigative team arrived at the scene, led by division chief Torgom Chandoyan and senior investigator for particularly important cases Aram Abhramyan.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the incident. Investigators are working to establish the identity of the injured passenger, while the vehicle was moved, on an investigator's instructions, to a secured area at the Sevan police division.
To establish the circumstances of the crash, investigators must reconstruct the vehicle's movements and determine what caused it to leave the road. The fact that the car rolled over several times does not, by itself, explain the cause of the accident.
The passenger's identity has also not yet been established. This information is important for building a complete picture of the incident, while no details have been released about the health of either the driver or the passenger. The investigation must determine the circumstances of the crash based on the evidence collected.
