The opportunity to import electric vehicles into Armenia under preferential terms is nearing its end. According to the State Revenue Committee, a significant portion of the established quota has already been exhausted, meaning that businesses and citizens will soon be required to import vehicles under standard conditions, without the previously applicable customs privileges.
This regulation, which aimed to encourage the proliferation of eco-friendly transport in the country, imposed a limit on the total quantity of vehicles. Once the specified number is reached, the privilege will automatically cease. Therefore, all those planning to purchase an electric vehicle should consider this fact to avoid financial surprises. The State Revenue Committee continues to monitor the process, overseeing the utilization of the remaining quota.
This quota limitation serves as a clear signal that state programs for ecological incentives are not intended to be permanent. Changes in pricing policy are expected in the electric vehicle market in the near future, as the removal of privileges will immediately increase the cost of imports.
