Armenia won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026, held in Malta. Nare received a total of 202 points with her song “Boo!”, comfortably ahead of France, which finished second with 114 points.

Armenia earned 103 points from the national juries. Cyprus and Albania awarded Armenia the maximum 12 points, while Armenia’s national jury gave the same number of points to Cyprus.

This year’s contest was held under the slogan “United by Music,” inspired by Malta’s traditional village celebrations. These festivities are included on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list and bring communities together through music, fireworks and decorations.

Armenia first participated in Junior Eurovision in 2007. That year, the group Arevik finished second, missing out on victory by just one point. Armenia secured its first win in 2010, when Vladimir Arzumanyan triumphed with the song “Mama,” followed by a second victory in 2021, when Maléna won the contest.

Last year, 12-year-old Albert Armenakyan represented Armenia with the song “Brave Heart,” finishing fourth with 175 points. France won that contest with Lou Deleuze performing “Ce monde.”

Unlike the adult Eurovision Song Contest, Junior Eurovision rules do not require the winning country to host the competition the following year. The winner may also decline the opportunity to host.

Armenia’s victory adds to the country’s record of success at Junior Eurovision, where Armenian representatives have competed for top places since their debut. The second-place finish in 2007, the first victory in 2010 and the 2021 win have become part of Armenia’s history in the contest, and this year’s result adds another triumph to that record.

One distinctive feature of the contest is that jury scores can be considered in the context of the overall results rather than as a separate, final measure. Armenia’s 103 points from the national juries accounted for only part of its total score of 202 points. Another important point is that winning does not automatically mean an obligation to host the following year’s contest. Therefore, following Armenia’s victory, the choice of host location remains a separate decision.
