The area affected by the forest fire in France has expanded, reaching 1,000 hectares, according to the BFMTV television channel.
Due to the fire, high-speed train traffic in the southeast has been suspended once again. Trains on some routes are facing delays of more than three and a half hours.
The fire has reached farms in the commune of Noisy-sur-École, damaging agricultural buildings. Local residents have attempted to extinguish the flames themselves. The blaze also poses a threat to the Fontainebleau equestrian club, from where animals are currently being evacuated.
More than 800 rescue workers are participating in the firefighting efforts. Four airplanes and two helicopters are involved in the operation. So far, approximately 900 people have been relocated to safety.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez stated that an A400M military transport aircraft is being tested. It is capable of carrying 20,000 liters of water, which is equivalent to the capacity of three firefighting planes. The tests are being conducted with the approval of Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu. Necessary inspections will be carried out over the next 15 days.
