Starting August 10, new traffic management changes will take effect on Yerevan's Sayat-Nova Avenue, aimed at improving traffic flow. According to the Municipality, the changes specifically target the most congested sections of the avenue.
Vehicle stopping will be prohibited in the area from Sayat-Nova 6 to the intersection with Abovyan Street. At the same time, vehicles traveling from Teryan Street toward the Sayat-Nova-Abovyan intersection will only be permitted to make a right turn from the avenue's first lane. These restrictions are intended to reduce congestion at that intersection.
These changes on Sayat-Nova Avenue are part of an ongoing process to regulate traffic in the city center. Relieving traffic at major intersections in the capital is becoming increasingly urgent, especially during peak hours, and such restrictions are among the primary tools used for this purpose.
It remains to be seen whether these restrictions will achieve the desired results or simply shift congestion to nearby streets. Adapting to new traffic rules often creates additional inconvenience for Yerevan drivers, particularly until the new regulations are fully implemented.
