Chinese Humanoid Robot Lightning Breaks Usain Bolt’s Running Record

2 Min Read

The Chinese humanoid robot Lightning has managed to cover a distance of 100 meters in just 9.32 seconds, officially surpassing the human world record set back in 2009 by renowned athlete Usain Bolt.

This innovative device was developed by specialists from the Chinese company Honor ahead of the upcoming World Humanoid Robot Games, which are set to start this very Saturday. During the test run, the robot reached a maximum speed of up to 14.5 meters per second, whereas Bolt's achievement in Berlin was 9.58 meters per second.

Experts remind us that this comparison between machine and human results is conditional in nature, as Lightning is a complex technological equipment. Nevertheless, the Chinese side is actively developing the fields of artificial intelligence and robotics with the goal of applying similar achievements in the future across various sectors of industry, logistics, and everyday life.

Earlier, the robot had already managed to surprise the public when it won the half-marathon held in Beijing in April, covering the distance in 50 minutes and 26 seconds. To prepare for the new competitions, engineers had specially increased the length of its legs by 10 centimeters, and now the total height of the device is 169 centimeters.

Such technological achievements demonstrate how rapidly modern engineering solutions and artificial intelligence capabilities are developing. Although the competition between robots and humans often seems conditional, it provides a clear picture of future industrial and household possibilities.

In the coming years, industrial robotics could significantly change our perceptions of logistics and the services sector. It is necessary to closely follow how these technologies will develop during the practical implementation phase.
