A major traffic accident occurred in the Gegharkunik Province on the night of September 3, resulting in injuries. At approximately 12:30 a.m., two Opel vehicles, driven by 42-year-old Sasha A. and 30-year-old Vardan M., collided at the 41st kilometer of the Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway.
The force of the impact was so severe that one of the vehicles split into two pieces, with debris thrown off the roadway and into an adjacent field. Both drivers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were transported to the Martuni Medical Center by ambulance.
A criminal proceeding has been initiated at the Martuni investigative division to determine the circumstances of the accident.
This incident serves as another reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant on the roads, especially during nighttime hours when visibility and reaction times are reduced.
The fact that the vehicle split apart suggests high speed or a very sharp angle of impact, making it difficult to definitively assess the causes of the crash without proper forensic examination. We await the results of the investigation.
