On September 7, an emergency incident occurred in Tavush Province when an 11-year-old boy was hospitalized from Dilijan Secondary School No. 2. Doctors diagnosed him with a ruptured spleen and internal bleeding, prompting an operational police team to immediately respond to the hospital to investigate the circumstances.
The 46-year-old principal of the school reported that the incident took place during recess, between 12:20 PM and 12:30 PM. The 6th-grade student decided to skip class in front of his classmates. He jumped from the window of a first-floor classroom, which was approximately 1.5 meters high, and fell onto a concrete curb.
Police officers have identified all individuals involved in the incident, and a criminal proceeding has already been initiated regarding the case.
Ensuring child safety in schools remains one of the most sensitive issues, especially when incidents occur during breaks. A seemingly simple act like jumping from a first-floor window can lead to serious health consequences, underscoring the need for constant supervision on school premises.
Such incidents often demonstrate that establishing rules alone is not enough, and greater attention must be paid to both physical barriers and explanatory work with students. Within the framework of the criminal proceedings, it will be determined to what extent proper supervision was maintained by the school staff.
