Aravot — With the support of Ucom, the Arevordi environmental organization has installed a new 15 kW solar power plant at the Vayk youth sports school. The previously operating 5 kW system was insufficient for the facility's heating and ventilation needs, whereas the new system will allow the sports school to cover its energy requirements almost entirely through its own production.
According to Ucom CEO Ralph Yirikian, the implementation of green technologies is not only aimed at environmental protection but also carries significant social importance. When the sports school reduces its energy costs, the saved funds can be directed toward improving conditions for children, which demonstrates the company's approach to creating value for people and communities.
Currently, more than 430 children attend the sports school, participating in soccer, volleyball, basketball, kickboxing, karate, weightlifting, and table tennis, as well as frequently taking part in chess tournaments. Arevordi NGO President Sona Kalantaryan emphasized that decentralized solar energy production helps reduce the carbon footprint, increases energy security, and frees up resources for the community's priority needs.
The partnership between Ucom and Arevordi NGO has been ongoing for four years, during which 18 solar power plants have already been installed in kindergartens and community facilities across various regions of Armenia. This initiative contributes not only to energy self-sufficiency but also to cost-effective management and environmental sustainability.
