The Investigative Committee of Armenia and the National Security Service have solved the murder case of S.V., a pastor of the 'Christians of Evangelical Faith' religious organization, which occurred on April 30, 2023, on Myasnikyan Avenue in Yerevan.
Essential circumstances of the case
The murder was ordered by Argam Abrahamyan, the former head of the Artashat community and a former member of the National Assembly, who is also the son of the former Prime Minister of Armenia.
The motive was revenge; Argam Abrahamyan suspected that his wife, E.Ts., had a personal relationship with the pastor and had transferred large sums of money to him. Argam Abrahamyan decided not to commit the murder himself, but instead incited G.H., a security guard who was financially and personally dependent on him, to carry out the act. G.H. accepted the assignment and, on April 30, 2023, killed S.V. with a firearm near the building at 2 Myasnikyan Avenue.
Current status
G.H. had been charged with murder and illegal possession of a weapon, and his case was sent to court in April 2024.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against Argam Abrahamyan for inciting a contract murder (Article 46-155, Part 2, Clause 11 of the Criminal Code). On August 8, 2026, National Security Service officers arrested him to bring him before the court with a motion for his detention. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
