Pickup truck with anti-aircraft gun spotted in Putin’s motorcade

A pickup truck equipped with an anti-aircraft machine gun has been spotted in the motorcade accompanying Russian President Vladimir Putin. Telegram channels were the first to draw attention to the vehicle.

The pickup was seen in Vladivostok, where Putin arrived to participate in the Eastern Economic Forum.

As State Duma elections approach, Putin has begun visiting Russian cities more frequently. From late 2025 until the beginning of summer, however, he had not traveled to other cities, with the exception of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and his residence in Valdai.

The staff of the Federal Protective Service, which is responsible for Putin's security, has increased as of July 1. This marks the fourth time since the start of the war that he has expanded the agency's personnel.

The increase in the frequency of Putin's trips and the expansion of the security service's staff coincide in timing. Against this backdrop, the presence of an anti-aircraft-equipped pickup in the motorcade becomes a notable detail, especially since such a vehicle is not a typical sight for a standard state visit.

At the same time, it is impossible to conclude from this data alone exactly why this vehicle was included in the motorcade. The facts presented in the article only indicate that the frequency of Putin's travels has increased and that his security system has undergone another recent change.
