At around 6:40 p.m. on September 17, an argument between a group of people near the Arev supermarket on Anastas Mikoyan Street in Yerevan escalated into a physical altercation, during which shots were also fired.
According to preliminary information, 19-year-old Jivan T., 17-year-old Arman H., 19-year-old Hovik H., 25-year-old Levon A., 16-year-old Tigran T., and 18-year-old Avet M. behaved inappropriately toward a 37-year-old woman, after which an argument broke out between them and the woman's 59-year-old father and 60-year-old mother.
The argument escalated into a physical altercation, as a result of which the woman and her parents sustained bodily injuries. As the situation escalated, the woman's father fired two warning shots into the air from a gas pistol he had with him, after which the participants in the altercation fled the scene.
Police officers took the woman's father to the Nor Nork police station, where they found the pistol in his possession. The BMW X7 that had left the scene was also located and taken to a police-secured special area.
Documents prepared in connection with the incident on grounds of hooliganism were transferred to the Investigative Department for the Avan and Nor Nork administrative districts of the Investigative Committee. Police and investigative authorities are taking measures to identify the participants in the altercation and bring them in for questioning.
The description of the incident shows that the initial argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, during which three members of the same family were injured. The development of the situation is also notable because the confrontation ended after two warning shots were fired into the air, while the weapon was later found in the possession of the woman's father.
