Trump Announces Talks with Putin and Deal on Russian Diesel Fuel Supplies

2 Min Read

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he reached an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to supply Russian diesel fuel to American and global markets. The deal was struck during a phone conversation between the two leaders, which the White House chief described as "very successful."

Under the commitments, Russia has agreed to send over 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to global and U.S. markets on short notice. Supply volumes are set to rise sharply. An additional 500,000 tons is scheduled for delivery in November, followed immediately by another one million tons. Furthermore, considering the capacity and general condition of Russian oil refineries, Moscow could supply an additional three million tons of fuel within a short period.

In parallel with these statements, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has already issued a temporary license allowing Russian diesel fuel to enter the global market. Trump also noted that he will soon hold another phone conversation with Putin, this time to discuss the plague situation in Russia.

The agreement on supplying millions of tons of diesel fuel and the temporary license granted by the U.S. Treasury reflect serious pressures emerging in the energy market. While the overall sanctions policy remains in place, pragmatic economic needs are forcing rapid solutions to curb rising prices.

Notably, the parties immediately set a clear timetable, starting with 300,000 tons and moving toward subsequent large-scale shipments. In the coming weeks, primary attention will focus on logistical routes and payment mechanisms, as their practical implementation will demonstrate just how effectively the issued license works.
