An anonymous channel operating on Telegram targeted various individuals for about a month, publishing their photos without their consent, along with personal data and promises of receiving a state benefit. This is reported by people who have been targeted by the channel.
People who spoke with the author of the article say that the channel's administrators presented themselves as representatives of a state support program and offered a "benefit of 350,000 drams." To receive it, all one had to do was fill out a special form and provide their Telegram account login credentials.
However, instead of the benefit, users lost their accounts. After receiving the login codes, the channel's administrators accessed users' Telegram accounts and began using them for various purposes.
Channels operating such schemes often target socially vulnerable groups by promising financial support. Users' personal data and photos are published without their consent, which poses a serious threat to their privacy.
Experts advise never to provide Telegram account login credentials to third parties, even if they claim to represent government agencies. Information about state programs should be verified through official sources.
This case once again demonstrates how easily people's trust can be manipulated on social media by promising easy money. The problem here is not only the loss of accounts, but also that personal data and photos have fallen into the hands of unknown individuals, and their further use is difficult to control.
It is noteworthy that the scheme operated for about a month without serious resistance. This suggests that users' digital literacy remains weak, and clear and accessible sources of information about state benefits are insufficient.
In the coming weeks, it is worth monitoring whether law enforcement will begin investigating the channel's activities and whether new similar schemes will emerge. Until then, the only protection is vigilance — no one has the right to demand your account login credentials.
